A trip to Koh Chang

Today, our long-awaited trip to the enchanting island of Koh Chang finally materialized. What was originally planned as a journey for two blossomed into an exciting excursion for four, with Noi’s neighbor Saen and her German husband Martin joining us. Their companionship promised to make this adventure even more memorable.

Our journey began with a scenic four-hour drive to the Trat harbor. The route through this stunning part of Thailand was a visual treat, featuring lush landscapes that set the perfect tone for our island getaway. Upon arrival at Trat, we boarded a ferry to Koh Chang, eager to experience the island’s renowned beauty and tranquility.

Once on the island, we faced a challenging but thrilling drive to our resort. Located 50 kilometers from the harbor, the Cliff Cottage resort promised a serene retreat, and getting there involved navigating steep hills, sharp curves, and narrow paths. This part of the drive was an adventure in itself, adding an element of excitement as we maneuvered through Koh Chang’s rugged terrain.

Cliff Cottage welcomed us warmly. Known for its animal-friendly policies and incredibly hospitable staff, the resort felt like a home away from home. We were greeted by both the friendly personnel and the charming resident animals, making our arrival even more special.

After settling in, we ventured out to find a place to dine. Our search led us to a quirky, hippie-style restaurant with stunning views. Here, we indulged in delicious Thai cuisine, embracing the local flavors and the breathtaking scenery. The restaurant’s unique vibe and the quality of the food were perfect for our first meal on the island.

Post-meal, we explored the surrounding area, enjoying the natural beauty and the laid-back atmosphere of Koh Chang. Our evening concluded with another meal back at the resort, rounding off a day filled with new experiences and fun discoveries.

Reflecting on the day, it’s clear that Koh Chang has much to offer, and sharing this journey with friends has only enhanced the experience. From the thrilling drive to the cozy meals and the warm welcomes at every turn, today was a reminder of the joys of travel and the beauty of shared adventures. We’re looking forward to what the next two days here will bring, confident they’ll be filled with more exploration, laughter, and unforgettable moments.
