Farewell Koh Chang: Back to Pattaya again

Today marked the final chapter of our delightful stay on Koh Chang, an island that never ceases to amaze with its serene landscapes and warm-hearted locals. We started our day early, keen to soak in every last moment. Breakfast was accompanied by our now familiar friend, Pook the dog, whose cheerful greetings have become a cherished part of our mornings here.

With a slight heaviness in our hearts, we packed our bags, said our goodbyes to the Cliff Cottage Resort staff, and made our way to the harbor. The ferry ride back to Trat was reflective, filled with vistas of the receding island that had been our home for the past few days.

Once back on the mainland, we embarked on the picturesque drive towards Pattaya. The roads through this part of Thailand are a driver’s delight, offering lush scenery and glimpses of rural life that stand in stark contrast to the bustling cityscapes. Our journey took an interesting turn as we stopped in Chantaburi, a town known for its gem trade but also home to an unexpected sight—a church. Finding such a distinctly Western structure in the heart of a predominantly Buddhist country was both surprising and intriguing. It served as a beautiful reminder of Thailand’s cultural diversity and openness.

While in Chantaburi, we couldn’t miss the opportunity to visit one of its lovely beaches. The tranquility of the sea was a perfect backdrop for our lunch, where we indulged in local delicacies, recharging before continuing our journey.

Arriving back in Pattaya, we settled back into the city’s vibrant rhythm with an evening of street food—a delicious meal of Pad Krapao and Som Tam under the bustling streets’ neon lights. It was the perfect culinary conclusion to a day of travel and discovery.

Exhausted yet fulfilled, we retired early, our minds already curious about what adventures the next day might bring. Reflecting on our journey from the serene Koh Chang to the dynamic streets of Pattaya, it’s clear that Thailand continues to offer an endless tapestry of experiences, each weaving its own unique memory in our hearts.

This trip was not just a holiday; it was a journey through the heart of Thailand, exploring its varied landscapes and experiencing firsthand the warmth of its people. As we look forward to tomorrow, we carry with us the rich tapestry of memories made and the anticipation of more to come.
