Today was our first full day in Bangkok together, and I couldn’t have been more excited to spend it with my wife, Noi. We started the day with a simple breakfast before heading out to explore the city. Our first stop was the BTS, Bangkok’s efficient skytrain, which took us to the Wat Pak Nam Temple to see the famous Big Buddha.
Unfortunately, when we arrived, we discovered that the Buddha was undergoing maintenance and covered in scaffolding. It was a bit disappointing not to see it in all its glory, but that’s how it goes sometimes when traveling. We didn’t let it spoil the day, though! After grabbing some coffee, we headed to the MBK shopping mall.
MBK is enormous. You can easily get lost in its endless rows of shops, and we spent quite some time wandering around, taking in the bustling atmosphere. Everything there was so affordable, and we even found some great deals on clothes and souvenirs. After walking around for a while, we grabbed some food at one of the many food stalls in the mall. The variety and flavors were amazing, and it felt great to just relax and enjoy a meal together.
It was a fun and laid-back start to our trip, despite the minor setback at the temple. I’m looking forward to the rest of our time here in Bangkok and to making more memories with Noi.
