Today was one of those days I had been looking forward to for a while—I was flying to Bangkok again. It’s always a mix of excitement and a bit of nerves before a long-haul flight, but this time it felt special, knowing I would be seeing my wife, Noi, after what felt like ages.
I started the journey by spending some time in the KLM Crown Lounge. It’s a great spot to relax, grab a bite, and mentally prepare for the long hours in the air. I’ve always appreciated this little pre-flight ritual of unwinding, even if it’s just for a short while.
Once on board, things didn’t go as smoothly as I hoped. The flight turned out to be quite turbulent. Every time I thought I might drift off to sleep, the plane shook again, making it almost impossible to rest. There’s always a sense of unease when turbulence hits, even if you’ve flown a lot like I have. But you just hold on and trust that the flight crew knows what they’re doing.
By the time we finally touched down in Bangkok, I was exhausted. The lack of sleep and the bumpy flight had drained me, but all that disappeared when I saw Noi. After such a long time apart, being reunited was an incredible feeling. It reminded me that no matter how challenging the journey, the destination—and the people waiting for you there—make it all worthwhile.
Bangkok was as lively as ever when I arrived, the familiar sounds, smells, and sights greeting me like an old friend. And while I was tired, just being back and seeing Noi again made everything else fade into the background.
